2002 gu ignition barrel

Hey all....am chasing a new (2nd hand) ignition barrel for our 2002 gu wagon.
Couldn't get the key to turn in the ignition on the weekend. Wife thought it was a bad key so coughed up $190 at mr minit only to still be stuck at the shopping centre with no way to start the car!
At the moment she is using a screwdriver to start it and is scared something else will go wrong and she will get stuck!
Nissan want $300 plus fitting and the local wrecker don't have anything. Suggestions appreciated. We are in toowoomba.....near Brisbane....sort of.
