Cracking around second battery mounting bolts

Hi all, I just picked up a 2008 ST. It is a hail damaged car that has been written off by the insurance company, fixed and re-regestered. So it is almost a brand new car. (only 30k)

I notised that there is some cracking around where the second battery would go. I didn't see it with the batery in there so I am not sure if this was a mounting problem or a weekness with the body.

Has anybody else had problems like this?

I intend to just get the cracks re-welded and painted.

Yeah its pretty common mate. get it rewelded and make sure you fit a quality second battery tray that is supported from the top rather than just he inner guard.

A Battery is really bloody heavy mate!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    Thanks MudRunnerTD.

I will see if I can find a picture of an ARB one.

If you have a photo of how yours is mounted it would be great to see it!
