So here I am speaking to the lady and she tells me they can't agree to the $33k I had on last year's policy. Well after a bit of chat she starts asking for $$ values for the accessories listed on my policy. After giving her ball park figures on the accessories she then said she could agree to $33k! Woo Hoo!!

And to make things even better, she asked for my residential address because they only had my suburb and postal address on the policy (PO Box). When I gave her this information she said she could now offer this policy at $311!! What the?? Just dropped nearly half for giving her my home address (which they mustn't have asked for last year). Her explanation is that they used to base their risk assessments on your suburb only but now they can assess the risk based on exact address. Weird huh?

Anyway I was pretty happy with the outcome of this chat. Increased agreed value by $4k and dropped the premium by nearly half. It's not often I hang up from a conversation with an insurance company with a smile on my face.
Top job mate - nice to have a win!!!!

Just an update. RACV seem to have the better deal, they went agreed value at $16,800. Still want to do better, but some cover is better than none. As for mods, RACV say that as long as Vicroads say the car is RWC with those mods, it is good enough for RACV. So the lift ect is covered.

there are GU's out there for under $15k. i just paid $11.5k for mine (stock as a rock but).. mines insured with RAC for about $12.5k.. i think the max they would go was about $14k..

i found SGIO to be good for agreed value with my HSV.. the most RAC would insure it for is $23k. but theres 4 SV300's for sale at the moment Aus wide and the cheapest one is $28k & thats got double the kms as mine ! SGIO came to the party with a max of $32k agreed value... maybe give them a go

THX for that. One thing I have noticed that cars are cheaper in the west ! Mine had a few extras and low km's, so I was willing to pay a bit extra. I was told by an Insurance broker once not to touch GIO with a barge pole. They would only offer $9,900. Will keep looking, see what happens.
