Well I just tried to insurance the Q with SGIO, told them it had a 4" suspension lift and running 35" tyres and it was probably, maybe, sort of, nearly illegal............well they had no idea it is was or was not so I checked and rang them back to cancel to cover note that they had organised for me.
When I rang the back the consultant had a meeting with some of the bosses there and they all agreed that they would not insure it.
So what do I do now, well I rang TCIS http://www.tcis.com.au/ and they will insure my Patrol with a 4" lift and running 35" tyres.........just waiting on the paperwork to be emailed to me.
Stay tuned.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever. WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.

Hey mate - what market value did they place on the car??? TCIS will underwrite the deal through a range of suppliers, but the reason they do it, is they slash the market value for insurance payout and then allow 50% in modifications - i.e. with Allianz, my market value was $10,700 and had an agreed insurance value of $15,000 due to the modifications ... the minute I informed them of a bigger lift (over 50mm) they could no longer do. TCIS quoted me a decent enough figure for the premium, but funnily enough, they underwrote through (wait for it ...) ALLIANZ!!!! The market value for the quote was $6,200 which meant I was allowed to add $3,100 in modifications to allow a total agreed value of $9,300 for the car ... RIP OFF ... for about the same premium (about $50 less actually) I got a straight agreed value through AAMI of $10,800 ... still not the best, but better than TCIS.
Not saying they are bad and they have a specific target market, but all I am saying is hunt around and you might be able to get a better deal ... I definitely did.
That is all now ... so stop reading ... no seriously, go do something else .... go on ... get .... lolol
