    BFG A/T - good all round tyre, has 3 ply sidewall (most A/T's don't). I have had a set of these in this size and was happy with them.

    Cooper - A/TR or S/T?
    S/T - Although I've never had a set of them the tread pattern of the looks a bit more open than the BFG A/T so I would expect them to be slightly better in mud. I have heard (so don't quote me, it's just what a few people have told me) that Cooper get high mileage out of their tyres by using a hard compound rubber - great for slow wearing but not good for grip.
    A/TR - more of a highway tyre than a proper A/T.
    *Make sure you talk to an authorised Cooper dealer as they only sell tyres properly rated for use in Australia. There has been imports of under rated Cooper tyres sold in Australia by unauthorised dealers. These tyres were not imported by Cooper tyres Australia.

    I would stick with 16" wheels. You will have trouble finding a 15" alloy wheel that will fit over the GU brakes.

    Tony, you seem to know about tyres. Ever heard of Federal brand ? Look ok, and are fairly priced.. What do you think? Gotta make a decision soon, my racing slicks are getting a bit noticeable.

    Federal are more of a budget brand and not as strongly made as the likes of Cooper, BFG, Mickey Thompson, Pro Comp etc. If you're doing 90% road driving and only light off roading then they will probably be OK. If you plan to go a bit harder off road or do long distance off road trips then pay the extra for the bigger brands. The other option if you can afford it is to run 2 sets of wheels, one for on road and one for off road.

    A mate down the gold coast has federals on his, and last I spoke, he had done 16,000 on them and was happy as a pig in the proverbial - that said, he does mostly road driving and off road consists of beach work. I'd second Tony's comments.

    Hey Kat, Go the Kuhmos mate!!! Big fan! Great value for money and just great tyres.....

    Look at post number 8 here>> http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...Feedback-Kumho

    No hesitation with this recommendation.

    Coopers are over priced and i have had some very average service from Coopers so would throw them in the land fill rather than fitting them to my car again. Very Over priced in that bunch.

    If your thinking 15s or 16s then go the 16s every time mate. More clearance around the brakes in the mud and better ventilation. If you ever sell the GQ for a GU then your 16s can go with you to the next one mate.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

    The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
