GU8 Nissan patrol Steering wheel audio controls with Eclipse unit on a ST. IT WORKS

Hi Guys

I have a 2012 GU8 50th Anniversary fitted with an Eclipse Audio unit.

The thing thing that shitted me was lack of audio controls on the wheel. Now MR Nissan wants $180 for the buttons. So before i fork out a huge load of cash, i took the rear cover of the steering wheel exposing the connector to the column, tested the relevant pins with an earth signal and hay presto, the unit responded, changing station, channel ect depending on pin connections.

SO i tracked down new steering wheel controls for a mear $60 from the USA, its the same as a 2001-2003 Nissan Maxima ones.

All i need is the wiring harness o connect it all up for $30 and yeah, audio controls.

SO to all with an Eclipse unit fitted, you can get the unit to have audio fitted controls easy.

Ripper Wogs, that's great. I felt like I went backwards with some of the controls with the Patrol.

Just need to divert you from your other Boost Issues, to see if you have finalized the Radio Switches yet and got them working.

I went in to Nissan and got told that there wont be any wires in the steering column for these same controls, and I cant see it being any differnet to yours even though mine is a 2010 model.

I am impatiently waiting to see how you go with it, before I pull mine apart.

Thanks mate, yeah i been a post whore of late.

The wiring for all of mine is there, on the side of the stearing wheel there is a cover which will expose the clock wire connectors. You can use an earth cable to test for this.

I have been a little bit too buissy to get on with it, hopefully soon.

The one thing that annoys me the most about the Eclipse Unit, is how hard it is to actually turn off when you dont want the radio on, but need to leave the ignition on.

I am hoping that your controls have or work with an On/Off Button.
