TD as the tree has grown and the shear has slowly rusted away the square makes it easier to see from the ground
But hey it may not be what i think it is

Yep, you got it, pearcy. Your turn. It is the Shearing Tree. The tree was close to the shearing shed and yards. During their breaks, the shearers used to play a game of "darts" using the broken shearing blades. This particular blade got stuck and has moved up as the tree has grown.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Puts a squash on the old trees dont grow taller from the trunk, only wider. Ive seen tie up rings 10 feet up.
