Identifying a non original engine
Hi all
I have a patrol that has over 380000km on it and while it does have a slightly rough idle, it drives very well with plenty of torque and power. I just recently flushed the coolant system and was very surprised to see the condition of the coolant passages looked almost like new, as opposed to being corroded and scaly looking. So my question is, is there are way to find out if this thing is running its original engine? I understand that there are alot of non genuine heads that are easily attainable, does the original head/motor have any nissan markings or numbers which prove its originality?
Cheers
Andy

Smart like tractor
check the engine number and compare it to the compliance plate.
Your motor cooling system has obviously had a good inhibitor all its life and been mauntained very well

Your original service books, if you have them, will have the engine number in the front, with which you could compare to what is in the engine bay...

It's a tb42e. Probably should have included that in the first post.

If it's been fitted with gas then there's a good chance it might be a reco head.
