I've done a bit of reading, and I'm getting differant answers,so here goes, For people that have blocked their egr valve on a 4.2 tdi (factory intercooled) are egt's and boost readings higher, lower or the same? Also do I only block the egr side or the exhaust side as well ?thanks in advance.

I blocked mine (99 2.8l gu) on noticed no rise in temps, actually ran slightly cooler on hills and very slight rise in boost (almost not noticeable).

When you think of it the air going into your combustion chamber is now cleaner with no recycled gas going back in.

All I did was block it just after the egr valve between the manifold where the gasket goes so that's all it looks like.

I noticed the coolant temp run cooler and fuel economy slightly improved on my 4.2. However I removed the lot of it, disconnected all the plugs removed butterfly from intercooler removed heat exchanger and rerouted crankcase breather to atmo.

Hey Tassie, just block it at the EGR where it meets the inlet manifold.
You will notice the turbo will spool up a bit quicker.
EGT and temps should remain the same.
    Cheers, the ferret.
