    Fuel consumption / economy report

    hi,

    thought it might be a useful reference if I posted my fuel consumption figures. Feel free to add yours as well, including vehicle details and road conditions;

    1992 GQ Patrol LWB, auto, LPG.
    This is basically my commuting run below;
    35% highway, continuous stop/start at traffic lights with fairly brisk acceleration keeping up with other traffic
    60% freeway, crawling through 20km of very heavy traffic and congestion, continous stops and slow driving.
    5% freeway at 100kph (yep the last 5% of my journey is not congested!!)
    This week it used 26.8l/100km of LPG. But with the Safeway discount it still only cost 48c/l, so about 40 bucks. Still not bad.
    1981 Nissan Patrol MQ SWB, 3.3TD, West Melbourne.

    NA TD42, 300.000 k's around town about 14L/100Ks, Highway 11-12L/100Ks. Getting much better economy by remooving pre-air cleaner and adding 2 stroke 200:1.

    92 GQ TB42e running LPG (dual, but run LPG where possible)

    Around town - 30 ltr's/100 klms
    Open Freeway - 24-25 ltr's/100 klms
    Downhill, with a tailwind, in the slip stream of a truck - 18-20 ltr's/100 klms ... only problem with this concept so far is I haven't found a hill, a tailwiind nor a truck that goes for 100 klms to keep my consumption down!!! lmfao ...

    Being an oily man things are different.
    My '89 td42 when I bought it at 120K about 15 years ago was damn near 10l/100 or in proper terms 100K/10 L. or forgetting this new B/S**t near 28 or so M.P.G.. Never had the injectors replaced et. and it went slowly downhill till it got to a bit under 12L/100. after 400K. At that stage a good long trip with a 2T. van on the back cleaned things out and it improved till we got back to bloody shopping trips again.
    Being the son of a tight a**e man I do drive with my mind on juice and brake pads so keeping up with mad a**se traffic hasn't really been a concern.
    Got a feeling that my new zd30 turbo may be a whole new learning experience though.
    Would love to hear what rev. range gives best economy/performance with and without a van though. Any thoughts?
    Col.

    I have a 1998 4.5 L GU (Dual Fuel) and on a recent trip to Melbourne through to Dandenong from Bendigo and mostly on Freeway I filled up at Calder Raceway on the way home. Required 47 Litres of Gas and I had covered 250 K's. That equates to 18.8 Litres per 100 K's.

    I have a 2002 Gu III patrol, 3.0 Turbo Diesel, Manual. Also running Manual boost, blocked EGR ect....
    I average around 10 litres to 100km's on a highway, thats sitting on 100km/h.. Sits around 10-12psi boost and 260-300 on the pyro
    Around town i get around 12 or so litres to 100km's. Boost and temps vary depending on how heavy my right foot is that day haha
