    Safari Turbo GQ TD42

    Hi all
    very new to this forum.
My 4.2L Deisel patrol is going in next week to get a safari turbo fitted. I am just wondering what gauges and extra bits i might need to add (other than egt and boost). No matter how obvious i will be grateful for any input.
    Cheers

Boost gauge and egt gauge as a minimum mate, either a dash pod or pillar pod, put the names into the search function and you will get plenty of info!

    Hi mate,

It's been a few years but I found guages that were fairly shallow and put them in the flat section beside my gear stick. I think only TI's and some ST Manuals had this but there's one for sale here so you can see what I'm talking about.
I didn't go nuts with the boost so having them away from the dash wasn't a problem but if you're pushing the envelope, you probably want to put them where you can keep an eye on them all the time - particularly the EGT - but I've had mates get defect notices for the pillar pods and didn't really want the guages on top of the dash - that said, there's some decent looking dash pods around these days.
I was going to do the same with guages on an auto TD42 I had up until recently but the guages I bought ended up being too deep so I never got around to fitting them.
I'm pretty sure the shallow guages came from Repco but it's getting close to 10 years ago now. Boost was a normal round type and the EGT was the same shape/brand but had a 3 digit LED readout of the temperature.
I also fitted a boost guage in the same spot on a 4.2 diesel GU DX I had - all the GU's have the plastic surround for the gear stick.

Anyway, if they fit and do the boost and fuel on the dyno etc all at the same time, you'll be a happy chap next week.

    Mate,
i put my boost gauge in the lighter spot in the dash.
Only required a small amount of filing to fit in a 52mm auto meter gauge.
The get will go in the clock spot.
