    New tyres

    Hi guys & girls

We are travelling to the cape in June / July this year,

Don't know what tyres to put on the wagon,

I have BFG's all terrains on the wagon now but need replacing and will be going to 285 75 16 ,

I was thinking Mickey Thomson MTZ's or the Cooper ST Maxx's,

What do you all think, any feedback or advice would be helpful

    Regards & thanks,

    Tonks

I would go Mickeys and stay clear of Coopers(too many complaints )
    BF's are another good tyre.

In saying that I think AT will probably be better suited to the terrain. There will be no mud in the dry season. But depends what you want with them after the trip.

Got the BFG AT KOs at the moment, going the BFG KM2s next time, astheticly pleasing to my eye and have heard good wraps about them.
good wear etc, and i think price wise they are reasonable too.
X2 with Kris on the Coopers, they are bad for wear, chewing out on the black top.

I'm trying the atz 4 rib in 285/75/16 and am impressed on road and on dirt tracks and rocky tracks done really well I came from bfg at's they are less noisy than the atz and a little better on the black top but the atz are much better off road

A friend of mine bought 4 MTZ's for his hilux and has torn holes in the sidewall of 2 of them already, (3 weeks apart) Admittedly it was in Sundown which is pretty rough, but my Maxxis Bighorns through the same country suurvived as did the BFG rugged terrains...So my 2 cents worth is to consider the BFG's and if its outside your budget then the Maxxis

x2 with threedogs - just bought 5 for the trip up there in August. Went ATZ over the MTZ's - but does depend on what else you use them for. They're pretty damn quiet for an aggressive tread too! I've noticed the lugs are quite soft but hardening up as I drive so reckon they'll be good up there - also the 10 ply doesn't hurt either!
