Do you mean fan motor behind the dash or the compressor under the bonnet? Compressors are mounted low down in the engine bay and are susceptible to damage from mud and dirty water getting into bearings.

you have not said what year, what model, what engine?
If its a TD42 it runs an idler arm adjuster and the bearing will make a bit of noise when on the way out and happens often,
A 3lt has a main bearing that is like a slave bearing that has no adjustment on it but is to change direction on the belt. It is notorious for shitting itself and making a noise. Especially when it gets a little wet.
Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!!
....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!
Check out my Toy -->

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
