    Steering problems, Please Help.

    hey guys,

I have just recently bought a 4.2L y61 GU Wagon, and I am new to the 4wd world haha.

I took it off road for the first time on the weekend on some reasonably rugged rocks, I noticed the steering felt really jaulty while off road, and also on the normal roads it feels as if there is a bit of a blank spot in the steering and also the steering wheel shudders a little bit on normal roads. I plan to put a 2" lift on it rather soon and bigger tires so could anyone give me any advice on why this is happening and even advice for recommended lift kits.

    much appreciated.

    G'day mate,

It would be great if you could head over to the Introduction section and post an Intro thread please, we ask all new members to start an intro thread to say G'day, Its just what you do when you enter a room.

It sounds to me like you might have a tight front CV? does it happen only when your turning? only on Full lock? or at what point through the turning circle is it? a little strange there mate.

Put an intro up and tell us where you are in the the World too bud

    Cheers MR

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

get the lift & the tyres done first, have a wheel alignment done, have them balance the new tyres, replace the steering dampner whilst you are there, have the front bearings tested for movement & roll, always buy quality suspension, Old Man Emu is a good safe bet, then see if you still have the steering & shudder issues, this will eliminate most problems & point you more in the direction of issues if it persists, spend your hard earned coin on new decent tyres & good suspension, this will set you up for years
