red wire to altinator?
i have been undoing the birds nest of dodgy wiring and found the the red wire to the altinator wasn't even conected to anything. can someone tell me where it come from so i can connect it back up. no wonder i wasn't getting charge.

There is no factory red wire to the alternator.
Can you follow where it goes to?

Hey Brett,
Any chance you could put up a pic, I went and had a look at mine but I cannot see a red wire.

it was cut off up near the battery box area. this has the white wire on the post of the altinator and a red wire on it as well.?

The large white wire is the main charge wire from the alternator to the battery.
If you are getting the 14 volts across the battery.... the alternator is charging.
The red wire might have been put in to run an accessory that may have now been removed.

ok. cool, i just looked at a wiring diagram and there should only be a white wire. thanks for ya help.

They may have ran that RED wire straight to the POS of the battery
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Hope not, if they did then they bypassed the main fuse.

i've removed it. still got an altinator problem but at least there isn't a big birds nest under the bonnet.
