Well, I just accepted a redundancy package from my employer of over 10 years. Now the question is what do I do with myself....lololol besides drinking everyday!

Do I travel this great country, got enough to keep us going for a few years..pick up a few jobs here and there.

Go back to the workforce and put up with the business politics again? Easy to get a job around here.

Take it easy, find a bit of work here and there. A mate has offered me some night work which is good pay?

We own the house, and owe on the van which I'll pay of now.

I do like to keep busy so mopping around isn't ganna work. Gotta think about retirement and super so need to consider that as well.


I'm even thinking of moving but I do want the kids to finish school here(not really sure why...loL) but we do have a good education system here in ACT

...now back to my beer! lol

Some tough decisions there mate. Good to see you got paid out and not just kicked out as happens so often now.

I guess a lot depends on your age, how long it is until you'd like to retire and also how much money you'll need in retirement.

Are the kids looking at Uni, because that it getting more and more expensive all the time.

For the time being though, kick back, have a few beers and enjoy Christmas and the freedom from work

All the Best Kris. Your kids are young mate so you are maybe tying yourself to the ACT for at least another 10 years! at Least!

Do them a favour, pack up the van again and head North West. go Mining or Go Outback for at least a year or two. The Kids will Love it and will shape them forever. It will Not hold them back it will provide a foundation.

I was an AVI in 1994/95 in PNG as a young 24 yo and had a great time for 2 years. I have never forgotten my journey and never will. It Shaped me as a Man. There are plenty of families that do it for 12 to 24 months and never look back. I have a Big Mortgage or i'd be all over that. If your secure then NOW is the best time to expose your kids to this most Incredible Journey.

Take them to Africa or Asia and into a Community, they will come home with a World View and another language, as you will. Or AVI also run programs into Indigenous communities in Australia.

Payout the debts,look at downscaling your assests,by that i mean maybe selling and buying a larger space abit further a field
Enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of the country
Give ya kids some room to grow,get em on quads,motor bikes,all that without whinging neighbours
Theres only a small handfull of students in the local schools, if your on the school bus run kids get picked up and dropped at your gate
Grow some vegies,have chooks, enjoy a healthier life, bugger that fast food saturated greasy stuff
Fasted thing that moves out here is the grass growing,oh and me drinking beer , but thats the daily compulsary intake,thats a given
