Replacing Front Bucket Seats in the GQ

    Greetings all

quick one if you please lads - who has replaced the seats in their GQ? What did you get, and how much trouble to put them in (i.e. do they fit neat to the original floor mounts, or some 'tweaking' required)?

Looking to replace the seats and want to get something far more comfortable, but more of a wrap around bucket style (not like Recaro as I'm somewhat ... lets say ... well ... a bigger lad!! - something more like a HSV style bucket seat, but obviously will take any and all advice).

    Thanks a million advance.

I have put ED Fairmont buckets into an MQ with minimal mods. Biggest problem with most seats is the extra height you gain after modding the slides. There are a few guys on other forums who have done SS seats into GQ's but not a great deal of actual info on what was required to make them fit

    Here's one example

I put Scheel seats in my GQ. I designed my own adaptors and had a fabricator in Underwood bend them up for me. Cost about $60 a seat.

The Scheel seats may not suit your, umm, "shape", but the adaptors might help you.

I have a set of VY SS seats. Very easy to put in. Can use the existing rails from the GQ seats, and use a 25mm square tube on the outer side as a spacer to balance the seats out.

Got mine off ebay for about $300 for the pair. Would never go back - very happy

Here is a link to anther site that has a lot of info about putting in vy commodore seats , im thinking of doing the same thing when i can get the money for a set of them . The mod seems rather easy a few of the guys found out you need to make shore they come out of a sedan as the wagon and ute seats are thinner underneath . heres the link
