Paint on wheel arch flares

Hi guys,

Has anyone else experienced paint fade on the plastic wheel arch flares near the top of the guard adjacent to the rubber seal? This has occured on right front and slightly on front left. Not garaged.

In regards to the clear coat finish on the paint work of the body of the vehicle - I'm assuming any scratches can be buffered out with Mcguires X2 - as long as they dont penetrate down into the paintwork?
