    tigerz11 winch mounting plate

    Hey all,

Did a search but can't really find the info I require, I scored an old warn winch off my in-laws which I want to start working out how to attach it behind my alloy bar, From what I have seen I have 2 options: I can purchase a universal winch mounting plate from tigerz11 or I can buy a winch cradle that suits the car.

Now there is a significant price difference between the two $70 x $300 for the cradle. I have a friend who could weld the tigerz plate in for me, but I've been researching and it looks like the plate is only 4mm thick? Will 4mm be sufficient to allow recoveries of a patrol?

I could buy the plate then get my friend to weld some more plate to it to beef it up more as well.

    Cheers,
    Eric.

Price reflects quality there I think, if your mates a boiler maker or like I'm sure he'd be able to gusset the 4mm one.
Why not get him to make a new one , what bullbar do you have is it factory bullbar? Have seen them cheaper than $300
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

From all the chat about Tigerz I'd steer clear......particularly if you're talking about a potentially hazardous situation such as winching.
You don't want that 4mm cradle giving way when you're stuck on an awkward angle out on South Bassalt Knob or somewhere like that......
It's a long way to the bottom!
    Cheers,
    Drew.

    Hi trekster,

The guy who makes these cradles is a member on here. Named Toolman, you can try sending him a pm as I know it wasn't compatible with all alloy bars. Depends on the model you have.

    Cheers

Get your mate to make one from 6mm plate. You have the basic design from pictures and for $150 and a box of beer (potential cost, my rate anyway.. ) you'll have a solid cradle which will last a lifetime..
