    Oil Usage TD42

    Hey All,

i did my regular oil change and filters change on friday, filled with 10L of oil ran engine shut if off and then came back half hour later to check oil level all was good, i run Delo400 and Z115 filters

on saturday we did around 5hrs of 4x4ing alot of low range hill climbs and decents and mud work. followed by an hour of freeway driving at 100-110km/h

i checked my oil level later that night and had lost around 3-4mm off the dipstick, it has got 220,000km in the clock and doesnt blow any smoke other than a really faint ammount at high revs and has no leaks.

is this something i should be keeping an eye on or am i just worrying?

i have had this GQ Patrol for 3 weeks and is a awesome 4x4

    cheers,

    Foo

My TD42 never used any oil in the 12 years I had it.

Quit worrying too much about it, and just keep an eye on it every second day or so until you trust the car. Make sure that you check it in the same place....for example where you park it overnight, as sometimes checking at home and then checking on the side of the road, gives you an impression that the oil level has changed due to the camber of the road.

Just keep an eye on it. If its losing a litre between services this is to much. As long as its still inside the range on the dipstick it will be fine and as others have stated it could be as simple as being parked in a different spot. Just monitor it and go from there.

I have been monitoring my oil usage over the last week. After 4x4ing Friday night and all Saturday the oil on the dipstip has registed at the bottom of the dipstick. It doesn't blow any smoke had my friend following me while 4x4ing. Where could it be going?

    Cheers, foo
