    GU II vs GU IV

    HI,
I have just joined this great forum. I am "imposter" I guess as I don't own a Nissan yet....but I want to research well before I buy.
I want a GU Patrol ute about 2006 model. I have been looking at ones for sale and am confused. There, for example is a 2006 GU II DX and a 2006 GU IV DX listed (both with 4.2TD). Is that a mistake or was there a model II and a IV released in the same year? If so what is the difference between the two models? Thanks in advance for help.
(PS I actually do own a Nissan..I inherited a 1976 G60 on my hobby farm when I bought it. One day I may get it going as a bush basher...lol.
    Cheers

No there was only the GUIV released in 2006. The last of the 4.2Ls were released in 2006. The GUII was 2000ish

As far as I know, The UTE only went to GU II, even though it was built until 2006. Check out the grill on a 2006 UTE it is the same as a GU II.

Thanks punter and scotty for your replies.
The ad definitely referred to model IV and 2006 but as stated this could be in error.
The only difference in specifications that I could see was in towing capacity.
The II stated 2500kg while the IV had 3500kg capacity (manual transmission 4.2TD)
THis is important to me as we will be towing 3000kg van.
Regardless of the model name....do you know what year the Patrol Ute was rated at 3500kg tow capacity?
    Thanks for your responses.

    Checkout Redbook for the details.

    The Patrol GU II Ute basically come in two variants;
The Leaf version (coils front & leaf rear)
    Leaf
    Towing Braked (kg) 2500

    and the Coil
    Coil
    Towing Braked (kg) 2500

So from what I can gather the GU II Utes were both 2500 kg. The 2006 Wagon however does appear to be rated at 3500 kg.
