oem pcv valve

so i went into nissan to get a new pcv the bloke quoted $295- for a new one!! damn expensive for something so simple and when i asked why so expensive his reply was its quality nissan :/

Then he told me to just block it off and when i questioned him to why the crank case dont need to breath he told me its for epa reasons thay use it and its a really big fine if they bust you, I told him he must be mixed up from the egr valve.

can someone point me to another way of getting around this or do i need to folk out 295 for a new one?

Why does it need replacing? You should be able to just give it a clean out and keep travelling.

You will have to remove the rocker cover to do so but isn't a very big job. Is it blocked?

Thanks for that great info but ive got a rd28, I can't find one for it its a round valve that sits onto of the engine around 75mm in diameter, Nissan calls it a air control valve
