old thread but if u crack the filters till they're loose (but not dropping oil) and then pull the sump plug 99% of the time doin this will suck oil from the filters. so after u drain the sump and put the plug back in when u take the filters off they shouldnt drip any oil. give it a try and let me know how you go

Old thread. Was just speaking to mudski about it this morning ... Next time I do the filters, I'll throw a jack passenger side of car and jack it up, it'll help with retaining the oil in the filters.

Basically it's a custom made tray that bolts to the engine block using existing threaded holes and has a hose hanging off the bottom that drains to the bucket your using. Works a treat and Zero mess
Like to see the pics please.
Still have that spare tray ??.
No pollution gear ex factory, interested in this idea for sure.

GQ TD42 Oil filter mess
The Trays are made by Chicken who is a vendor I think on P4x4. I tried to get him over here but oh well.
He has now made a tray to suit the TD42Ti motor too and Stropp and I were Beta testers for it.
I now have a Chicken Tray on both my TD42s and they are AWESOME! Bastard to fit but wicked at what they do.
I will have to check if I still have the spare? I think I gave it to AB when I fitted his winch up?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk cause AB turned it back on!!
Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!!
....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I made mine from a piece of Trimdek guttering before I put the engine in.
There's a lot less room with the big Ebay starter motor.
I had to braze in a copper elbow and then ran a copper downpipe around the starter.
Once the engine was in, I had to remove the 2 filters to fit the starter so it was a good test. Worked a treat..
