Well ive been here a few months now and things are rooling along quite well with my Q so i thought i wouold do a thread about me and the ride..
Its a 91 GQ sporting the famous TD42 NA motor with the 5speed manual on 15x7 sunnies (now painted black).
Life started as a demo car in adelaide. And once my olds cought wind they were expecting no.3 they thought they betta upgrade. The salesman had it sold to us kids before the test drive stared.. lol
So that was it, only 400Km's on the clock my parents bought it and we headed back to the farm.
It was fitted with some custom alloy sidesteps to suit the wide flares and some ralley 1000 spotties to pick them roos a bit further down the road..
Well it staid this way for some 18 years and put me and my 2 younger brothers threw our licences and weekend sporting trips, sometimes 300K round trips to adelaide and back on friday night for hockey..
Untill 2007 it was used as a daily driver on the farm and broke the 450,000k's mark and left the otter ute for dead.. The parents "upgraded" to the new prado..
So it sat dormit for 6 months then i decided to inherit it. After selling my EB falcon to my younger brother for the cost of a OME +2" lift kit installed it made its way done to the mount..
First thing, painted those ugly white sunnies black.. Nice..
Then unfortuantly i got hit front on.. No majour damage, but scored a brand new ARB winch bar out of it..
Mid this year i started getting serious with it..
I have fitted single piece glass to the rears, top move i recon..
Fitted a 25mm body lift to it for future projects and a little more height.
Gained an extra 15 Liters by my simple gank breather lift mod.
Added my own rear work light, bolt on, check out my sig
removed the front sway bar to allow a little more flex in the front.
Added a seperate fuse box in the front with a single positive buzz bar to tidy up under the bonnet..
And the TO DO LIST.. Which will keep growing
rear draw setup, i have some great ideas.. and cargo barrier DONE
dual battery setup DONE
on board compressor
fridge.. DONE
Long Long range fuel tank.. Im hoping to get 130-150L main..
Side step / sliders
custom rear bar, and then front.
32" tires.. minimum
a winch for the front bar
custom 4" stainless snorkle
Fix the few smae rust spots in gutters and rear doors
replace rear door glass rubbers
get out and enjoy it
So im hoping that the old girl will give me and my new family alot of great memories as it gave me and has alot of good k's left in it..

Nice straight looking unit you have there. Love the "To Do List". This will make it a touring weapon. Good luck and look forward to seeing it advance

So why the one piece windows? With the drawer system in the back of mine I like yo be able to mount stuff on the cargo barrier and reach it from one of the side windows. Not being critical, just interested to know....

Well price compared to replacement sliding windows..
Extra security was another. And IMO I like the look better. Once all tinted the same it should look tuff..
But yes, limited access was a thought which crossed my mind.. But I have some ideas which wont require the cage..
Were to start.. I had a leak in the trailer vacuum brake setup, so my plan was to tackle that.. but then the wife bought me a projecta dual battery setup for chrissy and the vacuum canister was right in the way.. and fitting it else were as pointless due to size.. so I fixed it..
So now with that out the way and the beaut access to my leaking vacuum pump (oil leak from front seal) I pulled it off to replace the seal. Should be here Wednesday.
So as it stood Sunday, vac canister mounted lower to fit under second battery tray, vac pump off waiting seal, and I have also moved the clutch vacuum canister to under the fuel filter to allow my 4" s/s snorkel to come threw there.
Next I started on the second battery tray..
I've made it from 40x40x3 angle steel. Bolted it to the wheel arch using 2 rubber blocks 6mm thick and braced back to the radiator overflow bottle mounts.
Strong as an ox.
Also while I had some old conveyor belt I cut new engine bay covers. When I did my 1" body lift they didn't quite stretch enough.. they come up tops imo
I reused the 2 plugs either side which goes into the chassis so no mods there, and used alloy wide head rivets for the rest.
So the to do list now..
Get seal for vac pump, refit
Get battery hold down clamp
Wire in second battery.
And all before we leave for beachport this weekend... Lol
