Imported Roof Rack
I removed the imported Roof Rack yesterday and cut off the mounting plates.
They were out of alignment by 5mm from one side to the other.
Which means when you tighten things up they bend the cross members of the rack.
An hour on the bench, a couple of straight edges and a bit of welding.
The end result was far better than the original.
At least they are all in line.
What was scarey was the thickness of the steel used to make it.
Now to get it blasted and painted in a 2 pack.
Fingers crossed.

Patrol God
About 1.6-2mm thick.. You have to remember that your rack is dead weight.. So the lighter is better. I would be fine using 1.6mm tube and 2mm for the mount. Welding it is the issue..
This pic sums up everything..

Ha ha, The Chinese have some magical way of welding and bending the thinnest of tube, half the time the paint is thicker than the tube lol
Cheers, the ferret.
