GQ RD28 noise under load in all gears except 4th

G'day,
My GQ RD28 is feeling the need to make me spend more money.

It's just on 200,000ks

It's noisy under load in all gears except 4th. I've heard that would be because 4th is a 1:1 ratio so doesn't use half the gearbox. Therefore the rest of the box is on its way out...

Any ideas how long they last once they start getting noisy? How hard are they to rebuild?

Are recos worth looking at etc?
