"Lokka" Diff lock in rear of GU

Has anyone fitted a "lokka" diff lock to the rear of their patrol? I am interested in one due to it's price competitiveness, but a little concerned about the driveability....

Had one in previous 4x4 , don't recommend it, Patrols have great LSD. save your money for Pro Locker for the front

I had thought of shimming it - is that only if it is a bit worn out or does it assist even if it is new? I have low KM (135,000KM) so it shouldn't be too bad I would have thought?

You'll find that patrols have the best LSD around. What makes you want to auto lock it? Do you find only one wheel spinning?
It might be better to fit an auto lokka in the front.

shimming once fixes up loose lsd,
shimming twice stiffens the crap out of it and makes it awesomely tight
shimming it 3 times.... youve welded the diff

Depends how thick the shims are. Someone on here got a shim off fleabay that was .7mm and was too thick, making the diff pretty much locked. He machined it to .5mm and found it worked perfect. I can't search for the thread atm but you might find it if you search. There may be some other useful info in that thread too

im pretty sure they dont make lokkas for the rear i think its only detroit that make them. A 0.7mm shim (on ebay) will lock a good lsd. you need about 0.3 or 4. but you need to get that made at a made at a machine shop
