Hi all HELP looking 4 suggestions on thee best way to cool EGT currently have 3inch, small muffler, boost to 15psi standard IC & scoop wish 2 tow off-road van approx 3000kg yet EGT up 2 400 with 6x4 with 500kg in it 4th gear up 15deg incline doing 80k
I would upgrade your intercooler and scoop and get a proper tune if it were me. In saying that 400 degrees it still ok, you dont really want to go over 500 degrees post turbo,
cross country do a cooler scoop combo and so does a.r.e. You want to spend decent money on an intercooler dont get cheap ebay crap because it is exactly that.
Cheers
Benny
You proberly need to provide a little more info.
Has anyone played with the pump?
What tyre size and diff ratio?
There are a few things that help the EGT's, timing being one that can reduce them alot. Factory timing is very conservative for emissions from the factory on the TD42T engines.
That would be the cheapest and easiest thing to look at first.
As for the ebay cooler comment above, thats one opinion.
I have seen many a ebay cooler work well and have personally had good results droping intake temps with them, without great pressure losses across the core.

The pump may have bin tweaked I'm not sure if it has bin touched as just bought it had bin dynoed don't know when, standard tyres, diff
Have just checked EGR has bin blocked & Butterfly removed prior to purchase
It is likely that when it was Dyno'd it was set for peak power. Most tuners will set it that way. I would be going to a Dyno Tuner and telling them that you are the new owner and will need to have it set up for heavy towing and they will likely de-tune it slightly.
your 400c is by no means hot. 500 and spiking at 550c up a big hill dragging 3ton is within expectation. I am assuming that you have a Pyro gauge and it is installed post turbo. If the other mods have been done then someone was playing with it for a particular outcome. Power.
I think you need to adjust your expectation a little as 400 is outstanding up a big hill carrying 500kgs in a trailer on a Tuned TD42Ti. If you have just bought this then learn how your car responds to the Pyro and your right foot as there is so much in your right foot mate.
Get it back on the Dyno if your really concerned and back the fuel off a little and most of your trouble may well be for naught.
Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever. WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
