I have started my LS1 build, found a relatively rust free shell which are hard to come by. Has no doors, no barn doors, needs windscreen, interior etc etc. This Patrol will be my daily, my tow car, and my off-road runner. My current GQ will be the donor for the missing doors, interior, and some of the offroad gear.
So far, I have only really acquired a majority of the parts, welded the engine mounts in, dummy fitted the motor, and just completed the motor build.
So, to start things off, it's a 1989 GQ long wheel base.

Now there's a slight power increase over standard. Good job so far.
2011 GU8 ST 3.0 CRD, ARB Bullbar with IPF spotties, scrub bars and side steps, Snorkel, Dual Battery system, Waeco fridge, Turbo Timer, ARB Roof Rack with 5 IPF spotties across the front, Custom full Leather Bucket seats, DPchip, 3" Taipan exhaust, ARE Intercooler & scoop, Autron EGT/Boost and dual volt gauges, ARB front locker.
a couple of reasons, i need a 4x4 on the road pretty much at all times, my patrol does a lot of north west trips, work is killing me at the moment so i can't spend a huge amount of time doing the conversion on my daily driver. but the main reason for not converting the daily driver, is there is a small amount of rust coming through the roof above the barn doors, a small amount of rust in the engine bay, but the floor pan is pretty bad (has been plated by previous owner, pretty shocking job though).
By converting another car, I know everything will be done to my standard. I was attempting to have it on the road in the first week of November, but realistically, after much thought concerning the amount of cash invested it's not something I want rush, it probably won't see the road till Jan/Feb.
in other news, engine is wired pretty much complete, just the sump, alternator, power steer pump, and belts to go.
