    Oil Change

Just had a chat with a mate of mine who seemed to think that an oil change every 5000 km otherwise I will have problems. Would that be about right for our 3.0 ST 2008, which is mainly used as the wifes run around. If so I might have to take a crash course in mechanics

    Thanks Richard

hey mate, we have two slightly newer cars one a suzuki and the other a ford, both are serviced every 15000km so I would have thought every 10000km would be ok. Someone might correct me on this however! We also have a 89 gq and the original service book say's to service every 5000km but this is an old car!

Depends on what type of driving you are doin..City stop /start driving, lots of short trips etc,can put more strain on a engine/oil system,So i would be keen to drop the oil in this situation, but if it is country driven ,you could stretch the changes to 8-10k ....

I do oil changes at 10,000km because I do 95% highway driving. If I were doing mainly city driving I would change that to 5,000km

In my opinion it depends, how long do you intend to keep this car? if you change cars regularly every 10,000 is fine. If you want to look after the engine and keep car long term, change oil and filter at 5000 intervels. I don`t care if its city or country driving, the diesel is still a dirty fuel in AU. Thats my opinion and i`m sticking to it lol

    Hi Richard.

My tech data for servicing a 2008 GU-IV 3.0l with a ZD30DDTI says every 6 months or 10,000km under normal driving conditions and every 3 months or 5,000km under adverse driving conditions.

So like others have said it does depend on how the car is driven. Always make sure you use a good quality oil of the correct grade.

Oil is kinda cheapish, although they like a lot of it per change! and filters likewise. I tend to change at 5,000 ks with reasonable quality products.

I do this in the hope that the engine will last longer. Since Silver is a TB42 petrol Mav, the most likely major engine issue will be the head, and my oil changes won't fend that off.

Hi all! I just bought a 2002 GU 4.5 petrol. The previous owner said that since he put in fully synthetic oil, the interval should be after 10,000kms. I wanted to ask if this is proper given that I use it for partly city, partly highway driving. Your feedback / experience on this matter would be most appreciated. I don't want to change up oil too early or too late.

I had a 2007 falcon that was good for 15,000ks. i will be doing my patrol every 5,000 if not sooner, but that will depend on the amount of off road i do. Your car is new, check your owners guide , but other then that i would say 5000-7500 would be a safe bet.
