Cyclone pre filter is it needed??
Hey guys, im lookin at tidying up loose ends and fully makin my air intake water tight, i currently have airtec snorkel on my GU, and my concern is it isnt quite water tight in some areas. i have discovered tht the plastic flow pipe from cyclone pre filter to air filter housing isnt doing the trick so im gonna eliminate tht and use preformed silicone bends and some 3'' stainless pipe, and run tht from my where my snorkel comes into engine bay. only concern is getting a round silicone fitting to fit over tht dammed 3'' square shaped inlet on the filter housing, but question is can i eliminate the prefilter, ass it too doesnt sit quite sound agains the flange coming into engine bay, and also has the relief port on the bottom which water can also get into. so i was going to eliminate and thn hard pipe with flex bends straight to filter housing.

Get rid of it and just run the main filter.

x2 Get rid of it. I don`t suggest useing s/s pipe, just use plastic and plenty of silicon. When you are happy and silicon is all dry, with motor on idel only, place a plastic bag over the airway of snorkel. Engine should stall very quickly if there is no air leaks.

As long as you keep clean new elements in the main filter wont be an issue and wont cause any. Its just a prefilter that tries to get rid of the heavier particles.
