Enjoying the trips
Guys I wasn't there so have no idea of the conditions, if he felt H4 was better than H2 thats good enough for me.
At speed doesn't mean excessive, just not slow like in L4. Might have been fast enough to get on top of corrogations.
From what I remember it was corrogated slippry gravel and 4WD felt more secure, he was driving, his choice.
It was his first time in the outback with the front locka fitted.
Once he figured out what to do he said it was OK but was unerving.
Drove on a snow covered tarsealed road years ago, the back was sliding around all over the place. Put it in 4H and it was as if the snow wasnt there.
So for me when the road gets a bit slippery, get the front end to help. If it doesnt help dis-engage it.
Cheers Macca

From what i was reading tjm are preferred as the arb had been known to suffer from seal and side gear failures.

Auto lockers in the front diff can be bad news for steering in the sand.

i would go tjm or e-locker the elocker when i was quoted was more expensive than the purchase of the air lockers (arb/tjm) but the fitting was alot more for the air lockers, the e- locker i would have prob fitted myself with a few mates.

I had an arb air in my old vitara which was used nearly every weekend n never had any issues with seals or side gear failures n I was always up n down rocky creekbeds to all out hillclimbs but I supose it only weighed 1100kgs so only a featherweight compared to Gq I now in but I am still going to get front ARB again when the pocket gets a bit fuller n hopefully before my cape trip in sept

Enjoying the trips
We had a day out yesterday with the club, it was rated medium to hard, what that means to us is lockers are more than likely needed, as are winches, straps and expect some damage.
If it was wet it would have been extreme or impossible LOL
Out of 14 vehicles we had a much modded Zook, 200, 100 & 60 series cruisers and the rest were patrols, the IFS 100 cruiser went home, too tough???.... a GQ Patrol and the 60 series cruiser busted a CV, the Zook a trailing arm and another GQ did an axel or diff. Was not a trip for the faint hearted!!!!
I am real pleased to say my Patrol did every track un-assisted, some road building to get the pod between trees on one track was the most help I had. Of course there were plenty of spotters to put the tyres on the right bits.
The E-locker was fantastic and did exactly what it is designed to do, and I did put it to the sword on more than a few occasions. It stood up to the task with out fault.
So my choice has well and truly been vindicated, and feel confident to recommend to others.

Tap, Tap.......Who's there?
Just a quick answer on this one.
Because it is safer and the vehicle is controlled better when you are in 4wd on dirt roads.
Try it and you will see how much better the vehicle feels.

Patrol God
A bit biased but would go the PRO LOCKER, most comp trucks use them now.
Will be putting one in the front as soon as I can.
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
