Is the Shire of 'Bland' called that because of what's there?? lmao ...
Thanks for sharing mate!!! Good to see - even a long straight road of nothingness is so Australian, and makes me want to travel ...

well it may be called bland, and i suppose yeah it is a bit that way, but still, bland can be beautiful, i love if out here, theres nothing that gets old about driving on those long flat roads, dodging the lizards, and damm crazy birds that like to play chicken with the car... lol birds playing chicken.
were pretty lucky to have such a vast country of nothingness. oh and the other awesome thing about out here... everyone always waves, makes me grin every time to think how awesomely friendly people here can be. if you broke down chances are they would prob stop to offer help... good luck finding that in the city, instead people would be cursing you for holding up the traffic...

Thanks for the photos Rusty, they brought back some nice memories.
There's a lot of good spots there, but I love Bland Shire.
West Wyalong is roughly in the middle of it. To the east you've got heaps of "bland" :-)
Flat country where heavy rain makes floodways across the roads fill up for a few ks at a time. Nothing deep, just long and shallow. If you keep going east you end up in the Weddin ranges.
On the west side of Wyalong the country rolls gently and grows mallee scrub.
And the town in the middle is an old gold mining area that's gone into retirement.
It's great.

I lived at The Rock not far from you for sometime and loved getting on my bike and just riding for hours and exploring the roads and towns in the region, thanks for sharing.
