    Lake Eyre, Innamincka and Birdsvill

    Hi all,
we are heading to Lake Eyre on the 22nd of July for 2 weeks. We were supposed to go to cape york this year but work would only give me 2 weeks (even tho i had given them over 6 months warning). Anyhow good chance to see Lake Eyre with some water in it. We are thinking of having a look at the big Desert in victoria on the way up, then lake eyre, up to Innamincka and then birdsville and maybe if time permits come back via broken hill. Does anyone have any good tips on whats good to see or where to stay? anything is appreciated.

    Thanks Tusman

Unless it has been graded of late, the road from William Creek out to the Lake is the worse I have ever driven on - AND you have to pay the bludgers to drive on it !!!!! Not a good idea to tow anything on this rubbish road. Otherwise - have a ball !!!

When we did that road in 2010 it was sweet as. The bore track from innaminka to cams corner was a good drive, coward springs on the oodnadatta track is a good spot to camp a few nights. Otherwise get out there & enjoy our great wide land.
Watch out there's a Poo "Yota" lurking in the shadows !

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

If your going to be there then give a bit of thought to heading straight to Birdsville for some history then check out Lake Eyre on the way back down

Thanks guys, yep have to look closely at when we are going to hit birdsville, going up their to get away from crowds not be part of them. We should hopefuly miss the worst of it. If we spend a few days at lake eyre and a few days at Innamincka, should get us to birdsville around the 29th.
