Help removing ZD30 turbo heat shield...

I want to remove the heat shield as from underneath I can see black soot marks against the motor and the inside of the shield. So I want to check this out. Is there any trick to removing it? I got it all unbolted bolt it looks like the heater hoses need to come off. Plus the steel heater tubes too but don't want to remove the tubes as I will need gaskets to put it back on. So before I start stripping it all down. Do you think the heater pipes, and hoses need to come off?

    Thanks.

Hi mudski , no the heater hoses or pipes do not have to come off . your turbo actuator and bracket does . It will come out foward and downwards . If you dont shed any skin during the ordeal you have done extremely well .

Thanks mate. All done and NO skin shed. To my surprise the top stud is completely missing from the turbo to the exhaust pipe :O

Hi Mudski, Did you find out what was causing the "black soot marks against the motor and the inside of the shield". I noticed the same on my car while cleaning the engine bay last night, but other than your post, I couldn't find a thread on the forum explaining what causes it and how to fix it.

Its the turbo to dump pipe gasket mate. I fixed it all back then but its done it again. The exhaust studs are working loose I reckon.
