GU ZD30 Stoped, restarted, stoped, won't start.

    Hi

My name is Phil and I have a 2001 ZD30 Auto ST Wagon. Bought in 2003 @ 70,000 kms and good service history. Vehicle is stock standard, no engine modifications and except for Dieselgas Iinjection.

I have had very little trouble. Now 202,000 kms over a variety of roads and tracks. No towing but heaps of mild outback off road and track driving with full camping equipment load.

I drive slow and carefully and the vehicle is regularly services and well maintained.

A week ago the truck stalled, restarted, stalled again and would not start. Waited 2 minutes restarted and drove as usual. Today the trucked stalled and restarted and ran for about 30 seconds twice. Would not start. 30 minutes later NRMA mechanic restared vehicle but it stopped within seconds. Would not restart.

No smoke, no rattles or bangs. The engine management light operated normally and the NRMA tested for fault codes, none displayed.

NRMA suspected fuel injection pump trouble but only a hunch. Towed away to diesel expert and I await a phone call tomorrow.

Any suggestions welcome and appreciated. I must go but will check online in about 4 hours. Now 1735 hrs East Coast time.

    Regards
    Phil

Phil Ihope this post gets placed as an intro as well for you as you have tried to tell us about yourself. We normally don't answer problems untilthere is an actual intro done. But you sort of covered that.

I think you have a computer problem, no start and no fault would be true if it is dead computer.

Could be several things, could be crank angle sensor. You need to check codes

    Hi

Thanks for the replies. The diesel mechanic has not had a chance to check it yet, but he said it started and ran well for a few minutes this morning but didn't run it to operating temperature or drive it.

    Waiting...........waiting.............

He says he will check all the fault codes and give it a good run to see if it cuts out again when he gets a chance.

    regards
    Phil

I suggest you buy ECUTALK or similar. Then when you have this problem come up in the future, you will see any codes that come up. You then can clear them too. It will save you dollars in the long run.
