ZD30 Filters Genuine OR Non Genuine

    Hi All

Looking at keeping some spares on the shelf for my next service.
Found some Oil, Air and fuel filters on E-Bay (Western Filters) much cheaper than genuine Nissan.
My question is am i best to stay with Geniunie Nissan or is there any other aftermarket filters that provide the same characteristics as the Genuine filters. IE Ryco, Terrain Tamer

    2003 GUIII Auto 3.0L

Searched as best i can but cant find a thread that fits the question im asking.

    Thanks
    Jimmy

I always used genuine as I'm always under warranty so I have to, but you could probably get away with non-genuine oil and fuel but definitely stick with genuine air filters. just my opinion but they seem to be a lot more free flowing compared to others

I'm a huge fan of Ryco and seen many Patrols do thousand upon thousands of km's with no issues on Ryco.

Terrain Tamer, never used but had heard good reports.

I use genuine filters, there reasonably priced, the genuine air filter is oil impregnated. A mate of mine has a land cruiser, he took apart a ryco filter and compared to a genuine Toyota filter, the difference was noticable, I presume its similar same with Nissan. Have also heard of stories with fuel filters not sealing properly and causing all sorts of issues.

There are non genuiene filters that are of good quality... there are also very bad ones. You have to check them before you buy.

I found that the Genuine Nissan Fuel Filter is larger then most after market filters. I'm not sure if/how this would affect the filtration, but I'm sticking with Genuine for now..
My Nissan ZD30 had a Ryco filter installed when I bought the car, I went to replace the fuel filter and found that the Genuine is 1/3 rd longer then the Ryco.. ?

    Thanks for the replys.
I think i wil do some more resurch on the better known after market filters for th ZD30.
I have always used RYCO on all my other vehicles and never had a problem.
I had a mechaic do a service and use Genuine filters but he stuffed the seal on the fuel filter which gave me a feww starting problems.
Gave him the sack and will do minor services myself from now on.

Mine breathes much better wih genuine rather than the Ryco. I had to adjust the Dawes valve after going Nissan as it started to overboost into limp mode.

Genuine all the way (but our patrol is still in extended warranty). Their prices have come down over the last couple of years especially with the fuel filter for a common rail. One thing I did notice with the air filter is that the ryco one was taller than the nissan one and the solid rubber seal was also made of a harder compound (well thats the way it seemed to me) so not too sure how this would go with closing up the lid of the airbox.
