If it is a gq the rebuild upgrade kits are fairly cheap.

    Hi mate!

I also have a little problem with turbo, but I'am thinking about thing like this (completely ready to install and already balanced cartridge) -
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Garrett-G...item5add971fee

My mechanic said to me that if I will use the repair kit and disassemble the cartridge I will newer rebuild it with right shaft balance and after a while the disbalance of shaft will broke down the bearings again.
And if install this cartridge it will be new turbo in old body.

Radmobile thanks for offer I read the reply to late I ended up buying a new one from Garret, brand new $1200.. I must have rang every wrecker in the state no ones got one..The guys at central coast 4x4 wreckers tried to source one and couldn't..

I sent it off to be rebuilt the technician said it can't be done it was damaged on inside...he said it was starved of oil that's why it failed... The shaft was cracked in half.... It looks like I need to seriously clean out the oil lines that are feeding the turbo as they might be clogged.....maybe sludge or need of serious oil change..

Does anyone know the best way to drain the oil and flushbthebold stuff out...

Just use that diesel engine flush from any car joint and go by the directions it says, and service every 5000km.

Always make sure you let your engine cool down by idling with no load, so the turbo is always well lubricated after a long or load demanding drive, i installed a turbo timer cause i'm lazy so I can lock the car and let it idle away on its own for 2minutes...
