    Oil for the GU?

Just wondering, is there any specific type of oil that anybody would recommend for the Patrol in particular? Or 4WDs? Or just your standard stuff?

    Is it diesel or petrol?

    I use Delo 400 in my 3l diesel. http://www.caltex.com.au/productsand...n.aspx?ID=1639

It's a very popular oil as its fairly cheap and meets all the Nissan specs needed for the 3l motor.

EDIT: just saw your earlier post, you have the 3l DI so Delo400 will do well. There's other oils that will do just fine as well, as long they meet the specs required.

I just looked at the Caltex site and it recommends. Havoline premium or multigrade. Some 4.5 drivers might have a better idea though

    Any thoughts on the following:
    - Buy "cheaper " Oil ( which meets Nissan specs) and replace more frequent ( every 5K)
    or
    - but " expensive" Oil and replace less frequent ( every 10K)

At the moment i'am using genuine Nissan oil but I will be changing over to penrite 10 tenths 0w50 full synthetic at the next service.
Reason being, the penrite is a full synthetic and is only about 15 bucks dearer than the nissan semi synthetic and I will be changing my oil every 10 instead of 5k.
So you get the benefit of better protection for less money in the long run.
