Which gas do I have?
G'day
,
can anyone tell me which gas I'm likely to have in my A/C?
My son helped me with a little repair, now I need to get the A/C repaired, and regassed.
I have a 92 GQ with a 4.2 diesel
I have a low and high line with quick connect fittings and a blue and a red cap on each, not Schraeder valves.
PLEASE tell me what I want to hear, and not what I THINK I might hear
thanks fellas

Advanced
1992 would most likely have been R12 unless retrofitted due to a leak after 1996. The blue cap is the suction side and red is the high side.
If you say there quick couples like say an air line its been retroffited with R134a

Yeah, r12 isnt available for cars AFAIK. R134a is the flavour of choice. Mine is up in the atmoshere now
I'll have to get a flaring tool and fix the pipe to the receiver /dryer. I wonder how much one of those is. Any guess'? Anyone had a regas recently, and what did it cost ya?

Flare tools arent to badly priced nowadays however if your removing the pipe off the reciever/dryer its good practice to replace these once you have opened the system.
