Auto confusion
Ive been having some problems with my auto in my swb gq, it was due for a service so took it nd got it done, told the mech what was happening, he serviced it, test drove it, tested voltage nd said theres nothing wrong with the box at all, its an electrical problem, -$300 for a test and service!!!!
Booked it in to a local Auto lecky, told them exactly what was happening, told them its just been serviced nd tested nd the mech said its a lecky problem!! Today got a call saying its ready to be picked up, so cruzed there to pay bill, the lecky said there were some earth problems here and there, they done a system dianosis all good, so they fixed them up nd the car is now fine
ok sweet so i paid my bill -$472 for a electrical fix
picked it up later in the arve, started driving up the street nd nothing has changed
1 gears change really quickly (really quickly) unless putting foot down a fair bit, feels a little gutless nd feels like it doesnt grab gears properly,
2 HOLD switch is active, still changes through gears, even drops back when accelerating wtf, (it never use to)
3 POWER switch light comes on when turning off O/Drive, visa versa, even when the HOLD switch is active (is that suppose to?)
4 Anybody else had any such dramas with there autos like this or even close? any info would be good so i can get some ground
Ill be taking it back tommorrow and having a chat to them both the mech nd lecky, even tho they have a really good rep round town but nearly $800 for not much change aint right!!!!

Jeepers ! on first reading i thought the $472 included the initial $300, wow, sounds like you need to find new people to work on ya car ?
Sorry dont have any real info for ya, id just be guessing, but in my experience with any auto gearbox problem, you are nearly always better to take it straight to a Automatic Gearbox specialist, they are often the only ones that won't be just "guessing".

Its a TB42e Ade, i went back to the leckys this arve and mentioned it hasnt changed, they said take it back monday nd they will go through it again, also went back to the auto specialist to ask what else it could be, he then said the voltage reading at the auto computer was around normal at idle, but the reading at the tps was alot higher!!

Bad TPS will make gear changes very jerky. Quick test: disconnect TPS connctor. Take for drive. If no change - Bingo!

Did they test the potentiometer on the TPS itself mate? To make sure it was smooth through the opening of the throttle? The gearbox uses dual signals from the engine rev sensor and the TPS to sort gear changes, and whilst it may have 0.45 volts at idle it may have glitches through the range and needs to be tested with an OHMs reading to make sure that it doesn't have any flat spots and/or spikes through its entire opening range.

Hey Bigrig dropped it of this morning nd went to see what the verdict was after work, they tested the tps nd that, everything was smooth they say, now they also said it could be the auto computer, see i got another one off a mate to check for myself incase it was the comp but they said both could be stuffed cause they try both after another nd the do totally different things, lol so yeah whats the chances of that!!!!!
