Changing GQ TB42 belts
I went to Repco and bought the belts that I need. The guy there actually said that there are 2 different A/C belts and there's not any easy way of telling which you have, so I got both and I'll take the wrong one back.
So I worked out how to adjust the alternator belts, that was easy. I'm stuck on the P/S and A/C belts, cannot work out how to adjust those, so any help would be great.
Cheers, Chris.

You get at the adjuster for the P/S from inside the L/H wheel well. You need to loosen the idler pulley for the air con then on top of the idler pulley bracket there is a bolt head. Loosen this to back off the tension. Might be a good idea to replace the bearing in the idler pulley while you are at it if you have noticed any odd noises in that area. Price is like a couple of bucks and any bearing suppliers - maybe even Rip Every Poor C*** Off - will sell them.

I took our AC one off just recently (compressor clutch bearing is shot), and it was one of the worst belts I've ever worked with.
Maybe I did it the wrong way, but if not then the designer is an idiot.

I reckon the P/S one was worse.

Haven't heard anyone else quote that for a very long time.
Repco had that reputation over 30 yrs ago.
and I still avoid them like the plague as they have not changed.
nissan use a idler.

Yeah, maybe I worded that badly.
Because the AC belt was the only one I needed to remove, I was blaming it for all the frustrations I had with the other belts too.

Yeah, it's a pain! On my old car changing the belt was a 2 minute job, took almost an hour (was my first time and I suck) on the Patrol haha.
