I have just put a set of Dynamics on mine, very happy so far.
If you are going to use your vehicle offroad much, don't go up in diameter with your rims, like MB said, you wont have much tyre to work...

I always carry a leatherman wave with me, when travelling, so handy.
I have a trip planed for April, probably a few thousand kilometres towing a 1600kg camper trailer, I will report back when I return, with the fuel usage.
Only real way to tell is to measure the trans temp, if it gets to hot, you have your answer
Late last year I bought a 2010 4.8 Patrol, I was going to do a diesel conversion, but after having it for a while, I am not so sure I want to anymore.
yes it does use more fuel, but not that much...
If its not lifted it will rub.
I just bought the Carbon winch, haven't used it yet, seems really well made though.
The winch comes with an extended breather, just like a diff breather, should help keep water out, and it is a lot...
Yeah a 6bt would be nice, but no good for me, I need something I can tour in, and carry a load.
Otherwise a 4.2 or even a 6.5 optimizer might be the go.
Thanks Mudski, is that 6 or 4 cylinder?
I think the 6bt is probably to heavy, I should have stated in my original post, I was thinking about the 4.5L common rail motor.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a Cummins engine conversion? and if anyone has had one done, was it worth it?
Does the glow plug light stay on? if it does that's an ECU problem, you could try wiggling the connector to the ECU.
Are you sure your Patrol only has a 100kg tow ball limit?
I have an auto GU, which only has 2500kg tow limit, and it has a 200kg tow ball limit
One thing I have noticed with the Toyo tyres, Both the MT and RT, I have to air down a little more than other tyres I have had.
They have a very stiff sidewall.
Just found this thread, I have had the Toyo MTs and now the RTs.
The MTs worked very well for me, this time I went for the RTs, to try something different, and I don't seem to be finding as much mud...
I couldn't stand driving it with a bubbling dash for very long
I rang the Dashboard doctor, he said can't recover or repair them, have to replace them.
Typical for Nissan. I am thinking of buying another Patrol, but it has the bubbling dash. I wonder how difficult it would be to change it?
Is Nissan still replacing bubbling dash under warranty?
I had a similar problem with mine, turned out to be the battery in the controller on the steering wheel. it takes a button type battery
Check out RV daily on YouTube, they have a whole bunch of videos on towing.
Thanks Jack, I have had my auto serviced at Geyle Performance Automatics before, very happy with the service.
Only looking at whats legal at the moment, I can not find any difference between an auto or manual patrol, besides the transmission, so I am not to worried about towing at close to its legal limit.
Thanks, the tow limit on auto Patrols is a joke.
Thanks Trevor, I haven't bought the van yet, just trying see what I can legally do.
