Hay team.
So I have a snorkel fitted to my 2.8 gq, but not plumbed in yet, I recently saw on a work mates forby that he had removed the filter box and placed all plumbing direct to intake, he then...
Yeah only West QLD at this stage. Never know in the future though, haha.
AMEN to that. Get away from the box and start coming home with grazes. Top stuff
Exciting times ahead for the family and I. We have decided to sell up, pack up and head west for a tree change.
Can't wait to own 5 acres plus, get some real animals and just enjoy life. Not to...
Whoo hoo!! All fixed and the old girl is running like it off the factory floor. So in the end I did the work myself, more rewarding for me and the bank account. Got new lifters under warranty, and...
Yeah I also enjoy the tunes of "Disturbed". Spewin I missed them when they came to Brisvagas.
Joys of being a shift worker, I do have mid weeks of slidding around on a creeper under the cars.
Started with st anger, followed by death magnetic. Lovin it!
Nothing beats enjoying a thursday arvo with a fresh copy of 4x4 action, cold beer and metallica cranked on the stezza.
Cheers to the next big trip :-)
So the lifters have not been replaced like the mech wanted to, I got him to do a oil pressure check with a master gauge, turns out the snail running zero pressure, this would make any hydrolic lifter...
Hay bud. Just did the plugs in my rd28, got them off ebay, cost me 120 bucks. They I rang company before ordering to make sure it was two sets of three. Work perfect, fixed start up issue straight...
Cheers ferret, that has cleared it all up.

Yesterday evening whilst dropping the boy at footy the noise was worse than ever, even started at idle now, by chance I was driving past mechanics and he was still in....
Ok, so she is back from the shop. Mechanic recomended glow plug change to fix smoke and rough running on cold starts, so I did that this arvo. As for the tick, it is an ongoing saga. It has been...
So the lifter tick and large amounts of smoke have not stopped since head replacement, put the snail in the shop to get issues sorted. Fingers crossed all sorted and running better than ever by this...
Think it sorted, did engine flush and oil change, also did fuel filter change, issue seems to be on improve, tick minimised and smoke reduced significantly. Will give it 500 - 1000k's and see where...
Yeah engine has had really good run. Oil pressure is spot on.
Thanks healy.
So what best option? Do I need take head off and take back to cylinder head joint?
Think I may have used to lighter oil, reading gregorys manual says should use 20W - 40. I used a 15W - 40, will this contribute to these issues?
Hay Gang.
As ppl have read I threw the timing belt on the GQ causing significant head damage.
So I have put the head back on post recon. The old girl starts and runs well. However I have...
After a day spent under the bonnet the new head is on the GQ, another half day and fingers crossed the snail will be back on the road. Been great learning the in's and outs of the old girl.
