I actually bought the silicone before I got the snorkel but the instructions do not mention using a sealing silicone at all (except for maybe sealing drain plug under air filter) in the install which...
About to do this deed myself on a 4.5L GU with a safari snorkel, and best of all no need for any silicone except for drain hole under air filter. Just waiting on 111mm hole saw which is in the post.
