Not sure if anyone remembers this but i finally got around to taking the pistons out of the engine. All it was was a shattered compression ring on number 4 cylinder.
Hey guys,
Just interested to know what front and rear brake setups you guys are using.
For a '89 GQ wagon
At the moment i just have some typical repco spec rotors/pads but they are just not...
YAY, more highroof trolls. Loving the colour
I had a look on the Holley website, they recommend running a dual carb system which i have no time and money to even think about doing that yet.
I dont travel much, its all mostly inner city...
would love to use petrol. but as i said. until i get it fixed it aint working.
Hey guys.
Just wondering if any of you guys use any additives when running your car on gas.
I have a '89 GQ with a TB42 which has a bit of a problem with the petrol side of things not working....
how long does it keep running for?
i could, but it would chew through fuel and being an apprentice, i'm not going to have the most amount of money for fuel any time soon. but that would definitely be on the cards for the future.
so as everyone knows circumstantial change. i now start my apprenticeship in 2 weeks so i will have no time to properly work on the car. and seeing as i need the car so i can go away straight after...
the last service was 10k ago. oil used was 15w40.
what i did find was that there was the air filter had oil inside it.
Thanks for that ferret,
what sort of compression should i be expecting? cant seem to find it in the service manual or im not looking for the right thing.
Would timing really be an issue making that big racket? means i have to but everything back together enough to start the car then take it all apart again. Is it worth my time? if it is i'll do it,...
Its a TB42 carbie and its just ticked over to 280 000.
these are belts. have checked all belts and their fine.
Last service was 10k ago
only one way to find out.
Unfortunately, all the tappets are fine... :(
means i have to dig deeper
Sure is

Hey guys, this is my patrol. its been in the family for around 10 years but 6 months ago the engine kinda shat itself so dad left it sitting out the front untouched for a while. Until now, in the...
(i am guilty of this)
Im pretty sure there is a way of making it so if you have anything less that 5 posts you cant make a new thread other than in the introduction section.
thanks for that taslucas, the car isnt really in one piece so a warm start isn't all hat practical at the moment
I know this is an old thread and id get slammed on the other forums i'm on,
but does anyone know the adjustment for a cold engine? TB42
Hey growler, this is a TB42
Thanks for the welcom guys, i will probably be on this forum quite a bit now as its crunch time with the car.
that bit I havn't been able to work out yet. Ill get back to you when i tear some...
