Not sure if you got it sorted, but it should fit no problems, one of the best things I've done to my 2000 GU, get a cheap shock from bunnings, comes with all you need.

What's the normal consensus for replacing these, if they are cracked slightly leave them, or swap them out.
Got a N/A head and all are cracked but the head is in good shape, so was looking at...
