Seems like I have two major issues 1) the water pump/viscose fan is suspect and 2) The radiator is 18 years old, so likely degraded inside.
Replacing the radiator seems better value than cleaning,...
factory, but heating creates other issues as well as indicated temp. Actually loses a LOT of power. Following Mudski's list plus others so we shall see.
Getting the whole cooling system flushed (not DIY), viscose fan "seems" ok.
Electric fan is ok, but no way to check if the ECU is actually switching it on other than when the engine is over heated....
My patrol overheated towing the boat , so much that engine stopped. The thermostat seemed to be stuck so replaced that.
Same issue with overheating now.
Complete engine replacement about 100k ago....
So I got the HPD hi flow. I will try that first. If needed I will get the hi flow lid.
Thanks for the first hand information.
Report back on outcome in the next couple of weeks.
I have taken my GU back to (almost) standard. Only engine bits: exhaust plate and catch can.
I get a limp after a few minutes at 110 km/hr, no issues at 100 or lower.
Remedy is to back off for 1...
Same problem I think. It seems easier to bend the AC pipe when removing and refitting the engine. There is a mount bracket on the pipe, and a threaded hole in the side of the engine. Sure it should...
I have just replaced the engine in my 2006 GU 3.0 Di.
Unfortunately the mechanic moved the upper AC pipe, and when the engine went in, it was left hanging outside the air in pipe.
It should be...
Hi "Rusty" I will wait on TD. Thanks for the clue
Hey guys
Has anyone found seat slides that move the seat further back??
How about height adjustment?
I have standard factory seats and my son has now grown to the point he no longer fits--steering...
Large Metric studs have a number on the head, denoting bolt strength, small have geometric code. US studs have slashes radiating from the centre, more means stronger.
I have a bit of gear for our longer trips and no longer needed. Includes 58 litre water tank and diesel tank, rear window protector, recovery tracks, winch extension, high lift jack etc,
Tanks were...
Just bolt on a Denco (or similar) turbo and it will go well and long. Did that with my old Maverick and it went fairly rapidly
My ebay replacement lamps have been working for more than 4 years. Basically need to get the wiring correct off the existing lights. Yes, you do need to make a loom to get side to side, but nothing...
DI ran until the end of 2006. CRD hit the market in 2007. I have the 2006 DI.
Had the joy of a grenade with my 2006 Di, but I am pretty sure I was over fueling--mods to MAF, turbo etc. I am now back...

Does anyone have information (not speculation) on the working life of glow plugs--3.0 direct injection.
Either mine are losing performance, or the relay is dropping out too quickly.
Missing for 3...
So with the knowledgeable responses I am satisfied that I have it about right. Thanks to all.
DDi 3.0 (not common rail)
Does anyone know the expected unmodified boost pressure when cruising around 90 - 100 km/hr.
Alternatively, what pressures are you experiencing??
Seems I get between 9...
Supercheap will sell you a good workshop manual for <$50 and it has all the wiring etc for all models from around 1998 to 2008 and maybe beyond.
So I have my nicely painted replacement engine--black paint on the block. I can't seem to locate a stamped engine number. Maybe on a flat on the casting rear passenger side( is that left from the...
Finally saw sense in your comments and got a complete rebuilt swap over, including new head. Also opted for a fuel system rebuilt pump, new injectors etc. Not cheap but probably due soon anyway. SMS...
The rebuild is similar $$'s to re-co motor. They also fit a new head. I know the rebuilder and they are local. Time is not critical--except I am reduced to borrowing my wife's Territory ...
OK so I now know the issue is the two front pistons are stuffed--not in the top but down the side. Really bad scoring of the bore in both cylinders. It looks like #2 has been hot, but I guess if a...
