Just an update on my fuel economy. I've since done the EGR block hoping to improve things for me. Unfortunately, my fuel figures have worsened from 16.6L/100 to now 17.4L/100 (town driving).
Thanks the evil twin i'll take it off again this weekend and have a better look. Will take photos too.
I just thought I'd add. Can anyone recommend a good Patrol mechanic on Fraser Coast region?
If it were leaking wouldn't it be evident on the outside of the intercooler? Sorry I'm not mechanic. Mine had fair bit of oil when i removed the pipe to access the egr (crd).
Thanks Stropp . I should have also asked when having it off and i fill with kerosene, can i determine if there are any leaks by seeing if the liquid escapes anywhere?
Hi Guys. I pulled my intercooler off today to discover a nice amount of oil residue. I want to give it a good clean but not sure which is the best method.
Can I use degreaser then clean out with a...
Those are nice figures Dr Gary. Since I have no attachments to my trol apart from tow bar and still get much higher than that, i feel envious. 12.16 I would be really happy with.
Hey guys. Still haven't done mine yet but planning to (time is a luxury). I was wondering with the EGR block on CRD do I need to have an EGT guage installed?
I'm thinking I should probably get my injectors inspected/cleaned. Any idea how much this usually costs?
I forgot to mention can be caused by air getting into fuel line. I'm not sure when fuel filter was last changed on it, so i probably should get that done.
Thanks mudski. I live up on the Fraser Coast QLD, so it's not cold at all really. I've read this could indicate a problem with glow plugs, injector timing or cracked head gasket. I might need to book...
I just noticed when my wife started the Patrol to leave for work this morning, a puff of white smoke came out the exhaust. I'm no mechanic, but should I be worried about this?
Hey guys. Once I loosen the nuts from the EGR inlet can you just nudge it back to slide in plate or do I need to remove mounting brackets etc.? How long should the process take?
Yeah. I've been reading heaps on different forums. Looks like there were some that are just good on fuel and others that just suck (the ones we got). Some have bought brand new and get 15-16L/100km...
Could there be an issue with injectors ?
Well it seems cleaning the MAF sensor did nothing. I'm still getting over 16L/100 and half of that was highway driving. :(
Awesome. Will post results once I get it done.
Thanks matty. I only have the scanguage at the moment to monitor boost levels. I thought the dawes setup wasnt needed on the CRD patrols?
Thanks bigguwesty. Seems the 3" upgrade throws things out of wack.
Ok. I guess I just need to install it an see what happens. Hopefully I don't get boosting problems. My exhaust size is standard so maybe people get different results with other mods.
As for...
the evil twin : Did you experience worse fuel economy after block?
matty: I've been reading a fair bit on overboosting issues after installing plate on CRD. Did you clean your MAF sensor and reset ECU when doing the block?
Hi matty. That's interesting. My fuel consumption is bad enough as it is. I thought blocking the egr might improve that somewhat. Did you adjust your turbo or remove the plate altogether?
Thanks mudski. I bought the blanking plate that has slots rather than holes to make it easier to slide in. I bought the scangauge mainly for the reason to clear the error code as i didnt really want...
