There is lots more to 4x4 than capability. Obstacles you can usually go around if you've got any sense, but breakdowns can happen anywhere, and capability will not help you then.

Question: what do you want to do with it?
A PTO winch, offroad tires and bar work isn't going to suit you, if you want a steet cruizer slammed into the weeds.
I haven't really noticed a difference between premium and standard diesel, but I have noticed a difference sometimes between stations, or when adding new fuel.
That is not surprising as it is...
I have some kind of IPF bulbs and relays (as well as IPF headlight housings) in mine. Major improvement over stock.
If that is the case, then Darwin ain't working fast enough.
I have a 1969 Corvette and a 1972 VW Super Beetle. Actually, I had them, as I gave them to my dad for "safekeeping."
Incidentally, cool little VeeDub, Astro.
I am here, for anyone who cares.
What is the PN for the genuine Nissan item? Clarification: The big version that just says "NISSAN" and doesn't have the logo.
Buying name-brand parts from a reputable Fleabay seller is one thing, but do NOT buy random no-name Ebay parts. Especially with things like, oh, brakes and other things that stop Nissans.
If you are going to do water crossings, stick with the clutch fan.
Whatever you do, DO NOT cheap out here.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that rust will only get worse.
Even structural repairs will be difficult with rust that far gone, because there won't be much good metal left to weld to.
Not my thing, but if you like it and can afford it, great.
Nissan still sell TD42 Patrols in countries like New Guinea, Africa, Russia, etc..
"What's the best off-road tire" is probably "It depends on what you want to do with it."
One tire may be best for sand, another for heavy-loaded vehicles towing big loads, another may wear...
Glad all is looking up. Take care of your family.
You never know when the rain may come up. At least where I live we sometimes get showers from out of nowhere as it were. Also, do not get muddies if you are going to drive like a hoon. They are fine...
Move to Ukraine and you can build anything you want, no matter how dangerous to yourself and others, as long as you pay your bribes. (Actually, the same rule applies if you have a showroom new...
At least some GQs have the 260H box from the factory, even though it is overkill for most applications.
I would nominate my Russian-spec Patrol - LWB, TD42, dual batteries (in series), so...
If you can get a set of visegrips on one you can sometimes get a snapped glowplug out.
Kewl. Let me know if I can help.
Depends on the tire. I have KM2s on my Patrol and so far it brakes fine on wet roads, including panic stops. (I have not done a panic stop from highway speed in the rain but there are not many places...
I dunno, Holmes, maybe I am just the sensitive type but that photo never seems to get boring for me.
Maybe it is the subtle way the towball goes through the front window, clean through the seat,...
What model do you have? Diesel or patrol? Besides the other suggestions, I'd consider fresh glow plugs or spark plugs, maybe change out the coolant.
And you also put more wear on CVs and axles and whatnot.
Bigger tires also increase the load and wear factors, which is one of the reasons I have resisted going too much larger.
